We look forward to this year’s Uillinn Christmas Fair on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 December, a fabulous opportunity to purchase locally made Christmas gifts by local artists and crafts people. The Uillinn Christmas Fair has become something of a talking point, so much so, that we were fully booked for exhibitors by early September. With over 35 exhibitors selling everything from prints to vegan desserts, it’s set to be the place to pick up those last minute gifts again this year.
Participating are Rossbrin Creative, makers of beautiful wooden gifts and homewear; Trish Goodbody who makes fused glass jewellery inspired by the scenery and ever-changing light of West Cork; and contemporary knitwear designer, Sharon Rose with her unique, stylish and inspirational designs for adults and children.
We also have Alison Ospina’s beautifully made greenwood chairs; Kilcoe Studios’ gorgeous calendars and greeting cards; painting and photography of local scenes by Anne Marie McInerney and Petra Reimers, and the ultimate Christmas gift for your canine friends – The 12 Bones of Christmas by Sara Baker along with an amazing variety of woodcraft, ceramic, textile, mosaic, confectionary, jewellery and other craft, design and gift providers.
The weekend also features our annual Primary Schools’ Christmas Installation brightening up the windows with festive children’s artwork and a free performance from Rusty Frog Youth Theatre called Christmas Crackers on Saturday 16 at 2.30pm.
We are also delighted to bring The Circus Stachamoose, a festive family puppet show by the fabulous Thomas Baker of Your Man’s Puppets to Skibbereen on Sunday 17 December at 2.00pm. This fun-filled event will entertain and delight children of all ages. Tickets €4 per person or €12 for a group of four. Advance booking is recommended.
As usual we will have carol singing, mulled wine, a prize draw to create a very festive atmosphere, with Kalbos@Uillinn providing delicious hot drinks, hot and festive food and yummy cakes. Admission is free to the public, so pop in and have a look around the fair, purchase some last minute gifts and take the kids to see the puppet show. We look forward to seeing you all there.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our staff and board, members and friends, partners and collaborators, participants, facilitators, artists and visitors for making 2017 another year to remember at Uillinn, and to wish everybody a very peaceful and happy holiday and the very best for the New Year. We look forward to welcoming you all back to see us at Uillinn in 2018.
