Fianna Fáil Leader Micheál Martin TD has expressed his sympathy following the death of former Councillor and colleague Dan R Harrington.
Deputy Martin commented, “Dan R Harrington was, quite simply, a legend in West Cork. One of life’s great characters, he brought great energy and enthusiasm to everything he did – whether it was his years of public service as a Fianna Fáil representative and member of the health board, his role as an entrepreneur on the Beara Peninsula or as a loving husband to Mary and father to his nine children.
“I always valued my interactions with Dan R over the years, when I was first elected as a Cork TD, then as a Minister and most recently as the Leader of the party. He was deeply rooted in his community and had a deep sense of place. He was always a fearless advocate for both.
“His passing will leave a gap in the Beara community that will not be easily filled.
“On my own behalf and on behalf of the entire Fianna Fáil family I would like to offer my condolences to Mary, the children, Dan R’s wider family circle and the entire Beara community.
“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”
