State pathologist investigates suspicious death in Skibbereen

The State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy has completed a preliminary examination of a body found in a house on High Street, Skibbereen on Monday.

An examination was also carried out in a nearby carpark following the discovery of the body of an Englishman in the rented property in High Street close to the town centre.

The man, has been named as 51-year-old John Ustic who had been resident in West Cork for around a decade.

His body was discovered by his partner at the house they rented together. Investigations are focussed on a possible disagreement or assault at the car park nearby, Mr Ustic us understood to have sustained injuries the cause of which are currently unknown.

A full post mortem is due to be carried out at Cork University Hospital, the results of which will determine future garda investigations.

The death is currently being treated as suspicious.
