ON Sunday March 12, Stargazers will launch their new album, MY ECHO, MY SHADOW AND ME, with a special concert at the Everyman in Cork. To celebrate their album launch they will be joined on stage by renowned Irish soprano Majella Cullagh for a selection of songs.
Following the success of GLOW WORM, PAPER MOON and VATICAN RAG, the first singles from the new album, Johnny Fang Murphy, Chris Ahern and Ursula O’Sullivan will perform some new numbers, and classic hits which celebrate the song writing genius of Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin and the instrumental style of Django Reinhardt and Stephan Grapelli.
For over 30 years, Stargazers have been Ireland’s leading harmony vocal band and have been a regular feature on many of the major Irish radio and television shows including The Late Late Show and The Pat Kenny Show. The Stargazers have performed in Europe, Africa and played a special gig for Fred Astaire’s daughter Ava at the Kensington Roof Gardens.
A venerable Cork institution since 1983, Stargazers have continued to maintain the intricate musical and harmonious tones for which they are famous. Best described as a combination of gypsy style music married to the classic American song book, this is Stargazers third album having previously released Mercier Park and Chaser for the Blues.
