Skibbereen’s unique adult education provider, West Cork College, unveils new courses for February 2017

Five new courses and a writers’ workshop

Dr. Emma Bidwell reported that a most exciting course is the West Cork Spring Watch based on the popular BBC program and taught by a researcher from the Deep Maps Project UCC.

A unique West Cork celebration of the Brontës’ bicentenary will also take place with sessions on their novels. And, after the huge success of her Taste of West Cork events, Dr. Bernie McCarthy will lead a course on Irish Faeries and Legends. There are also popular courses on Kate O’Brien’s novels and Women and Philosophy.

These classes are exceptional as they are taught in the formal rooms of Killeena House Estate by university lecturers but without any of the stress of formal education. €95 for 8 weeks.

West Cork College also launched its Creative Writers’ Workshop Weekend. Here students can learn to create characters and produce a plot. Run by experienced tutors and also based in Killeena House with an accommodation option available. This is an excellent value choice for budding authors. 4th/5th February from €150.

West Cork College is a privately run adult education provider. Established in 2013 by Dr. Emma Bidwell and Dr. Bernie McCarthy to give people in West Cork the chance to continue learning in an entertaining and informal way.
