Shooting Stars basketball camp in Skibbereen

Skibbereen Sports Centre will host this year’s Shooting Stars Basketball Camp. The camp will run from August 8th-11th, 9:30am-2pm and caters for boys and girls aged 7-13, and all Skibbereen Eagles Basketball members.

Shooting Stars Basketball Camp is the brainchild of five friends, all former Mercy Heights and Skibbereen Eagles Basketball Club members who between them have Club, School, College, County and International experience. In it’s third year, the camp has gone from strength to strength, with this year expected to be the biggest yet!

The overall aim of the camp is to create a fun and enjoyable environment where children get active, make new friends and most importantly enjoy themselves!

The coaches hope to increase participation in basketball in the West Cork area. The success of Shooting Stars Camp has transferred to Skibbereen Eagles Basketball Club and the local Secondary School.

Skibbereen Eagles have the second largest membership in Cork at 220 members. This is a massive achievement for Skibbereen as they compete with a number of big city clubs. While Skibbereen Community School won the U14 boy’s All Ireland final this year beating Larkin CC, Dublin. A number of Shooting Star’s campers were members of this outstanding team.

The cost of Shooting Stars Basketball Camp is as follows: €55 including a free t-shirt. €45 for second child. The deadline to sign up is July 20.

Application forms are available in the Sports Centre, Hamilton’s Pharmacy & Hourihane Sports.
