INDEPENDENT TD Michael Collins raises serious concerns over Bantry Hospital with the loss of Senior Consultant Dr Abo Ghaly.
Dr. Abo Ghaly’s contract is due to expire this Friday 13th October 2017. Many patients are referred to him from CUH, which plays a huge part in reducing the waiting lists in CUH. Deputy Collins has huge concerns that the fact that Dr. Abo Ghaly’s contract is not to be renewed and as to date a replacement has not been announced will have serious implications for Bantry Hospital.
Deputy Collins has requested an urgent meeting with the management of Bantry General Hospital alongside with his fellow two West Cork TDs, Deputy Margaret Murphy O’Mahony and Minister Jim Daly TD, to discuss the crisis that has developed in Bantry Hospital. The management of Bantry Hospital as to date have not made any arrangements to facilitate this meeting.
As a community reprehensive Deputy Collins has been raising the issues around Bantry General Hospital for many years now. Deputy Collins said back along when he and others raised the issue of the closure of the overnight A+E in Bantry General Hospital, they were accused of scaremongering, but the overnight A&E subsequently was closed.
Deputy Collins urges the HSE together with the Management of Bantry General Hospital to provide a solution to the current situation of the loss of a Senior Consultant from Bantry General Hospital as a matter of great urgency.
