With over 60 stall-holders now registered to attend, the Christmas Market at the Celtic Ross Hotel this Sunday will have to expand beyond the main function room to accommodate all exhibitors!
Earlier in the week, it was decided that the overflow exhibitors would be in the Round Tower Room – meaning an even greater choice of foods and crafts will be available to browse and buy in comfort from 12 noon to 6pm this Sunday 19th at the Celtic Ross Hotel.
This year the organisers have kindly decided to donate proceeds of the event to the Clonakilty Special Olympics Club. A great opportunity to pick up a few unique West Cork made/produced Christmas gifts, admission is free with a raffle on the day. The annual Rosscarbery Christmas Market at the Celtic Ross Hotel, is one of the most popular seasonal events leading up to Christmas over the last number of years with plenty of safe on-site parking for customers.
The Clonakilty Special Olympics Club is very thankful to the organisers for donating the proceeds of the day. Founded in 2005 by people who were involved in the 2003 Clonakilty Host Town committee, (when the town hosted the Danish SO Team before they went to the Summer Games in Dublin that June), the voluntary group caters for the sporting needs of around 25 athletes with intellectual disabilities in the community, complimenting work undertaken at the local COPE and CoAction centres.
Golf Skills and Basketball are the main Special Olympics Club sports in recent years and this summer, three members qualified for the Ireland Games in Dublin next June.
Wayne O’ Sullivan, Eileen O’ Brien and Kevin O’ Dwyer have been with the club for many years and will represent the club in Golf Skills at the Ireland Games, which may in turn may lead onto one or all of them qualifying to represent Ireland in the 2019 Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi.

The Celtic Ross Hotel is a superb venue for the Christmas Market, being held indoors, central to many areas of West Cork with plenty of safe on-site parking.
