Ring RC travelled to Ballyshannon, Co Donegal for the All Ireland Costal Rowing Championship and what a weekend we had.
The wind and rain didn’t dampen the spirits of the club and they went on to achieve amazing result across the weekend in claiming 5 Gold , 2 Silver and 2 bronze . This is a massive achievement and the club is proud of all the crews that rowed .
We are the second best Coastal rowing club in all of Ireland coming home with 9 medals and we are extremely proud of that .
Friday night saw Ring winning a silver and bronze medal in the following races and what a great start to the weekend .
Silver was won in the Cork Yawl race to the crew of Mike Murphy , Adrian Fleming Damien O Driscoll and Kevin O Donovan coxed by Denise Harrington.
Bronze was won in the Cork Yawl race to the crew of Collette O Donovan , Kaili Hayes , Jana Schwarzfeld and Virge Daly coxed by Rory Cullinane.
Saturday morning saw the start of the heats and this was a long day for all rowers the majority of the teams made it into the top 6 to qualify for the final race on Sunday morning.
Sunday morning saw a fantastic day of racing across the board and lots of medals heading to the South .
Rings first medal of the day was in the Senior mixed race and this is always one to get the crowd roaring and the crew of Mike Murphy, Eddie Knowles, Kaili Hayes and Virge Daly coxed by Denise Harrington had a fantastic race and finished in 2nd place to secure a silver medal .
U21s the crew of Noel Creedon, Rory Cullinane , Brian O Donovan and Jack Wycerley, fixed by Denise Harrington this young crew had a fantastic race and came home in 1st place to secure a gold medal.
Pre vet mixed with the crew of Kevin O Donovan, Deirdre Knowles , Jana Schwarzfeld and Adrian Fleming coxed by Denise Harrington this amazing crew had a fantastic race and claimed 1st place to secure a gold medal .
Pre Vet ladies of Collette O Donovan , Deirdre Knowles, Kaili Hayes and Virge Daly coxed by Denise Harrington, there is no stopping these ladies and they claimed 1st place and secured a gold medal .
U14 Ladies the crew of Aleesha Hurley , Aoife O Connell, Kelly Oforji and Ava Archbold coxed by Denise Harrington had a great race and this young crew finished in 3rd position and secured a bronze medal .
U16s this crew of Mark O Connell , James O Donovan , Jack Conway and Gearoid O Donovan coxed by Padraig Griffin remain untouchable having won every race this year they finished it off in style and got 1st place to secure a gold medal , what an achievement by these lads .
Junior Men the crew of Damien O Driscoll, Mike Murphy, Kevin O Donovan and Adrian Fleming , this fantastic 4 had a fantastic race and the crowds were on their feet and they finished a fantastic race in 1st place to secure a Gold medal.
Ciara Deasy had a great race also in the u21 ladies , she rowed for the Galley Flash and came home with a bronze medal , well done Ciara
A huge shoutout to all the crews that competed over the weekend , you did your club proud and rowed your hearts out .
A massive well done to our two u12s crew , these little guys rowed in very tough conditions and still managed to smile at the end of the race well done to Tom Ryan , Frank Beechiner, Darragh Cullinane , Cian Murphy , Finn Allman , Jack O Donovan, Ciaran Coakley and Conor Daly .
