One Act Drama Festival returns to Rossmore

The annual West Cork One Act Drama Festival takes place in the theatre Rossmore from Friday 17th-to Sunday 19th November. A wonderful weekend of scintillating drama and comedy is promised.

The festival includes several Cork groups from Schull, Whitechurch, Ballincollig,, Fermoy, Castlelyons, Haulbowline as well as the local Rossmore based Kilmeen group.

The festival opens on Friday with Schull Drama Group presenting Harold Pinter’s ‘The Dumb Waiter’, David Tristram’s hilarious ‘Last Tango in Little Grimpley’ staged by Doonbeg Drama Group as well as current All Ireland One Act winners Blue Hat Players from Whitechurch performing Woody Allen’s comic play ‘Central Park West’.

On Saturday Palace Players from Fermoy take to the stage with Malachy McKenna’s ‘the Quiet Land’ followed by Gunpowder Productions presentation of ‘The Cow Play’ by Ed Harris. Closing the night will be Wexford’s Wayside Players with the ever popular Hugh Leonard play ‘last of the Mohicans’.

The closing Night of the festival on Sunday has Take 5 Drama Group from Castlelyons performing ‘Tom’ by their own Noelle Clarke, Kilmeen Drama Group with intriguing Ray Scrannell play ‘A Day in the Life of a Pencil’ while Haulbowline Drama Group close the night with ‘The Briefcase’ by Kieran Doyle.

The top groups from the circuit will progress onto the All Ireland One Act finals which take place on the weekend of December 1st in An Grianàn theatre in Letterkenny Co. Donegal.
