“Never Waste a Good Crisis” says business chief – speaking at a Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Brexit briefing in Cork, John McGrane, Director General of the British Irish Chamber of Commerce told a gathering of senior business leaders that while Brexit certainly poses very real challenges for Ireland, it brings considerable opportunities too.

“In fact,” said McGrane “it’s exactly because of those losses that Ireland faces in vulnerable sectors that other sectors must do all they can to win every opportunity”.

He said “Ireland is the next-best home for UK businesses who realise they need a future base inside the EU whether they’re in manufacturing, education or services and the British Irish Chamber of Commerce is already connecting numerous UK firms with new partners in Ireland to address their needs.

“The Chamber is also geared to help Irish firms find partners in the UK to help secure barrier-free access for Ireland to the valuable UK market whenever Brexit takes effect”.
