Outgoing Fianna Fáil TD for Cork South West, Margaret Murphy O’Mahony received the unanimous endorsement of over 300 local party members to contest the next General Election.
Speaking following her selection, Deputy Murphy O’Mahony said, “It has been the greatest honour of my life to serve as a TD for the great and beautiful constituency of Cork South West.
“I could not do my job as a TD without the amazing backing of the local Fianna Fáil members, and I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart for this endorsement.
“It has been 18 months since the last General Election and despite a lot of empty rhetoric by the current Government, the major challenges in housing, agriculture, fishing, health and disability still remain.
“I am committed to highlighting these issues and proposing workable solutions. As a Fianna Fáil TD I will continue to prioritise services for people over tax cuts, and will make sure that regional and rural communities are not left behind,” concluded Murphy O’Mahony.
