Laurence Sterne – Tristram Shandy

Born in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, novelist Laurence Sterne died #OTD (March 18th) in 1768.

Sterne was the author of The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman and A Sentimental Journey Through France and Italy a classic of English literature published in nine volumes between 1759 and 1767.

He was also an Anglican clergyman and was a noted critic of slavery.
