Padraig and Lisa Fitzgerald Kinsale are delighted to be invited by Tipperary Peace Convention to meet one of Syria’s “White Helmets ” On September 6th , The WHITE HELMETS are Syria’s Civil defence force who basically put their lives on the line by rescuing people from the rubble of Aleppo and elsewhere.
After their cities being bombed over 180 of these volunteers have lost their lives in saving people.
Last winter Padraig & Lisa Fitzgerald of the Kinsale Peace Project organised for a Skype call between Kinsale Community School TY students and a 16 year old girl from Aleppo.
Her name is Nujeen Mustafa, despite suffering from cerebral palsy and being confined to a wheelchair, she and her sister made the perilous journey by sea to Greece.
She now lives in Cologne, her amazing story has appeared on Channel 4 and BBC and now is the subject of a new book on her life.
Padraig /Lisa & TY Students raised over €450 for Trocaire’s Syria appeal on the day.
