School Coaching Programme finishes on a high!
The “Kilmeen Kubs” school nursery programme is a joint venture between Kilmeen National School and Kilmeen/Kilbree GAA. The fifth year of this programme has just been completed.
All class groups in Kilmeen National School received hurling coaching over the past six weeks. The coaching is organised by Marie Dorgan and involves expert coaching by Tony Walsh. Thanks to Kenneth McCarthy (principal) and all the staff at the school for supporting this venture over the past five years.
On Thursday last, all classes from second to sixth class travelled by bus to the club’s hall to play an indoor hurling tournament. This was an exciting finale to the coaching programme. This gave the young hurlers an opportunity to showcase their skills. The children thoroughly enjoyed a great morning of hurling. Thanks to Tony Walsh for coaching the children over the past six weeks. Thanks to the transition year students who assisted at the training sessions.
Many of these children will continue to develop their skills at club training, over the coming months. The training schedules are as follows:
