“Minor footballers kick off with a win”
The minor footballers played their first game of the season on Sunday. Their first outing was an away fixture against Kilmichael. Kilmeen got the perfect start with a goal and three points by Jamie Santry. Kilmeen had many goal chances in the first half.
A further point by Cathal Dineen followed by a great clearance by Cathal Daly at the other end of the field kept Kilmeen in the game. Jack Kingston scored a most important goal before half time. The half time score was Kilmeen 2-3 to Kilmichael’s 1-1.
Kilmichael were a stronger force in the second half. While they had a number of wides, they managed five points in the second half. A point by Brian Deasy and three by Jamie Santry kept Kilmeen in front. The final score was Kilmeen 2-7 to Kilmichael’s 1-6.

The junior footballers played away to Diarmuid O’Mathunas on Sunday morning. The final score was Diarmuid O’Mathunas 1-9 to Kilmeen’s 0-9.
