Kilmeen U21(A) footballers V Castlehaven in Drimoleague

U21 footballers fail at second attempt to defeat Castlehaven!

The Clona Milk U21(A) football championship quarter-final replay against Castlehaven, was played on Sunday afternoon, in Drimoleague. Kilmeen fought hard throughout this entire game.

Scores by Damien O’Gorman kept Kilmeen in contention throughout. Kilmeen were just two points adrift a half-time. Points by Darren Santry, Damien O’Gorman, Joseph O’Donovan and Brian Deasy in the second half were not enough to salvage a place in the next round. The final score was Castlehaven 1-15 Kilmeen 1-12.

U12 Carbery Camogie Blitz

Rossmore was the setting for an U12 Carbery camogie blitz on Saturday, in glorious conditions. This blitz was organised by Deirdre O’Leary and was a tremendous success. All West Cork clubs took part in this fun blitz. The U12 girls will be taking part in the county league shortly and this blitz was perfect preparation for the games to be played county wide.

Kilbree U16’s travelled to Ballinhassig on Wednesday last to play a very strong Ballinhassig side.

The U14’s travelled to Castlelyons on Monday night to play the local side. This was an incredibly exciting affair between two very well matched sides. Kilbree were very unlucky to lose by a single point but they have learned much, from this first game of the season.

U16 Hurling

Kilbree’s first hurling game of the season was against Ahan Gaels, in Enniskeane on Sunday morning. Jack Murphy, Cathal Dineen and Thomas Tyner managed eight points between them in the first half. Kilbree lead by a single point at half time. Two goals by Jack Murphy in the second half turned this encounter around in Kilbree’s favour. Great displays by Ray Shanahan, Thomas Beese, Cathal Dineen, Harry Oates and Thomas O’Sullivan ensured Kilbree would hold on to win by seven points. The final score was Kilbree 2-14 Ahan Gaels 2-07.

U14 Football

The U14 footballers played St James on Thursday evening, in Rossmore. The local lads were the stronger team on the night and were comfortable winners.

U12 Football

The U12 footballers played Sam Maguires in Dunmanway on Monday last. The Kilmeen boys played very well against a strong local side. There were some fine performances by Conor O’Sullivan, Micheal Keohane, Darragh Clancy, Joe Barry, Sam Bailey and Oisin Harrington on the night.

Mini Sevens Football

The boys and girls teams in Kilmeen National School qualified for the football county finals. The final games were played in Newcestown on Thursday. Both teams performed extremely well against strong opposition. They won two games and lost one. They should be very proud of their achievements.

Lotto Results

There was no winner of this week’s lotto jackpot. The numbers drawn were 8, 29 and 31. The lucky dip winners were Rosarie Murphy, Cathal O’Connell and Ann Marie Higgins. Next week’s jackpot will be €2,900.

Easter Camp

Easter Camp takes place from Tuesday 18th to Thursday 20th April (inclusive). The camp runs from 10am to 1pm each day. Anyone wishing to register for this camp should contact (087) 9645831 as soon as possible.
