U16 County Hurling Semi final Kilbree V Ballinora in Ballygarvan

U16 hurlers bow out of county hurling championship”

Kilbree U16 hurlers defeated Ahan Gaels to win the West region B1 hurling championship final. They qualified for a county semi-final against Ballinora. This fixture was played in Ballygarvan on Saturday. This was a thrilling match. Ballinora opened their account with two points. However, Kilbree’s full forward Jack Murphy responded with 1-2. David O’Regan and Cian Murphy had great performances and both added 0-2 each before half time. The half time score was Kilbree 2-6 Ballinora 1-11.

Cian Murphy added another point just after half time. Ballinora took some fine points before Jack Murphy netted another fine goal. Unfortunately Ballinora responded with a goal of their own. Harry Oates made some fine saves in goal. Thomas Beese dominated at centre back while Ray Shanahan was superb covering much ground. There were two points between the sides with five minutes left on the clock. However, Ballinora finished very strongly despite a huge defensive effort by Kilbree. The final score was Kilbree 3-12 Ballinora 4-18. Well done to each and every one of these players. They fought to the end and have had a wonderful season. Well done to Pauric Reilly, Garry O’Sullivan, John Clancy, Don McCarthy, David O’Donovan, Shane O’Donovan and everyone involved with this great group. We wish Thomas Tyner a speedy recovery from injury.
