Ahan Gaels provided the opposition in Ballinacarriga, in the U16 B1 West Cork hurling final. This was an intense physical battle from the start. Both sides exchanged points early in the first half. Ray Shanahan showed great vision send a ball into Jack Murphy, who converted his chance into a goal. Sharp shooting by Thomas Tyner kept the pressure on Ahan. A goal late into the first half by Ahan put a different light on this final. Kilbree lead by 1-10 to 1-6 at half time.
Kilbree dominated for most of the second half. In the opening quarter Thomas Tyner scored five points without reply. Wing back Cian Murphy burst from the defence to score a sublime point. David O’Regan and Jack Murphy added further points. Ahan had a couple of free chances close to goal but a strong defiant Kilbree defence held their ground. Kilbree held Ahan Gaels to a single point in the second half. The final score was Kilbree 1-19 Ahan Gaels 1-07. Well done to everyone involved.
