Kenmare’s Sheen Falls Lodge is named ‘Best Destination Hotel’ at the 2016 National Hospitality Awards

The five star Sheen Falls Lodge has been awarded the title of ‘Best Destination Hotel’ at the coveted 2016 National Hospitality Ireland Awards. The 11th annual awards ceremony, in association with Hospitality Ireland Magazine, took place on Monday, 7th November in Dublin’s Intercontinental Hotel.

Claiming one of the most highly contested awards of the afternoon, Sheen Falls Lodge faced off competitions from a host of other leading Irish hotels. The award win comes as the hotel celebrates its 25th anniversary having first opened its doors in April 1991. Over the past 25 years, Sheen Falls Lodge has crafted a reputation for luxury, quality and outstanding customer service, firmly establishing itself as one of the country’s top luxury establishments. 2016 also marked the completion of the hotel’s 2 year renovation project conducted throughout all of the hotel’s 66 bedrooms, restaurant and public areas.

The hotel boasts an award-winning eatery, The Falls Restaurant, headed by Executive Head Chef Philip Brazil, who this year was named Kerry’s Best Chef at the 2016 Irish Restaurant Awards. The hotel’s Easanna Spa offers a pampering sanctuary for guests and non-residents with a range of treatments from leading luxury Spa brands Elemis and Voya. The Sheen Falls Estate spans across 300 acres of stunning Kerry countryside and offers a range of activities for guests including falconry, clay pigeon shooting, horse riding, tennis and walking.

Commenting on the award win, General Manager Seamus Crotty said: “2016 has been a very successful year for the hotel and we are thrilled to cap off the year being named ‘Best Destination Hotel’. To be recognised in such high esteem among our industry peers at the National Hospitality Awards is a great personal privilege as General Manager, and also a fantastic achievement for all our dedicated staff.”
