seven-headsDURING the May Bank holiday (Weekend May 3rd-6th) there will be a number of organised walks along the route of the Seven Heads Walk.

The walkway, originally developed as a millennium project and extended in 2007, is a most outstanding and accessible amenity.

It takes in many types of scenery, rocky coastline with magnificent marine life, sandy beaches, country lanes and rural bye roads along with historical sites and picturesque villages.

There is something for everyone to enjoy on the walkway.

The tarmac sections are suitable for family walking (including biggies) while the off road sections give a glimpse of  rural life.

Here there is peace and tranquility, abundant wildlife including some wild flowers that have disappeared from the developed landscape, and if you’re lucky a sighting of the seals at Travara.

For the adventurous the complete distance of the walk starting and finishing in Timoleague is 42.5km. Shorter looped looped are available from a number of locations or walkers can decide what section they wish to complete.

Sturdy footwear is recommended for the off road sections and don’t forget rainwear.  The ‘Seven Heads Walk’ booklet, including maps, is for sale locally.
