UNION Hall’s Sam Fitzpatrick has been named as the UCC Graduate of the Year.

An outstanding student from Union Hall, County Cork, Sam graduated with a first-class honours degree in Computer Science (BSc) in 2011 and now works for top finance firm Credit Suisse in London.

During his undergraduate years, he was actively involved in a number of societies holding 10 different committee positions with nine different societies and established the UCC Entrepreneurial and Social (E&S) Society in 2009.

The E&S is UCC’s largest society by membership and has welcomed such luminaries as Alastair Campbell, Ronan O’Gara, JP McManus and George Hook to address students.

The Graduate of the Year Award is given annually to the most distinguished student of the year.  In making this award, both academic distinctions and the part played in the public life of the University are taken into consideration.
