The vessel was detained by the LE Aisling

THE first foreign fishing vessel to be detained by the Naval Service this year is currently being escorted into Castletownbere.

The UK registered boat is alleged to have breached fishing regulations when it was detained 180 nautical miles west of the Skelligs.

The vessel was detained by the LE Aisling who ordered her to haul in her nets and head for West Cork.

She is expected to arrive in Castletownbere tomorrow (Saturday) where she will be handed over to gardaí.
