Up to 10,000 people are expected in Courtmac.

UP to 10,000 people are expected to attend the All Ireland Coastal Rowing Championships being held in Courtmacsherry’s Broadstrand Bay this weekend.

More than 2,000 rowers from across the country will take part including a strong West Cork contingent.

Hosts Courtmacsherry are the current All-Ireland champions and local people and businesses have got behind the event in a big way with a major festival taking place to coincide with the racing.

In nearby Timoleague the annual harvest festival also continues ensuring there will be plenty to do on and off the water in the local area.

Racing gets underway in Broadstrand Bay at 5pm on Friday with the final races from 3pm on Sunday and prize giving at 5pm.

There is a full programme of events in Courtmac and Timoleague across the weekend with live music, barbecues, kids events and much more.
