THERE’S no stopping world-beating endurance super swimmer Steve Redmond who yesterday completed his latest challenge, a 24.4-mile swim around the Fastnet Lighthouse, Ireland’s most southerly point.

It’s the second time Steve has completed the amazing feat, this time for charity, raising up to €2,500 for the Cork South West Association for Autism, and follows on from his world-beating performance when he became the first person in history to complete the Oceans 7 Challenge.

Steve, who lives in Ballydehob set out on his latest endurance swim from Baltimore at 7.30 am on Wednesday morning and reached his final destination, Schull at about 8pm, 12hrs 31 minutes and 24.4 miles later.

Steve was recently honoured with a Civic Reception by the Lord Mayor of Cork at City Hall and for his next challenge he is planning to become the first person to swim the entire length of the River Shannon which he hopes to undertake sometime next year.
