The Beat on the Street is always popular at the Family Festival in Ross.

THE 57th annual Rosscarbery Family Festival takes place this August 10th- 12th and will feature West Cork’s Oceans 7 hero Steve Redmond as guest of honour on the Sunday night.

This 10-day family festival takes place once again has a jam-packed programme featuring activities to entertain all the family.

Festival chairperson Mike Walsh said, “Two local community groups, Rosscarbery Tidy Towns and Rosscarbery Rowing Club, come together to bring the 2012 festival to the people of Rosscarbery as well as to the families that make us their annual holiday destination during the Festival.

“All proceeds from the Festival go back into the local community to benefit everyone.”

Mike also thanked everyone for their continued support in making the festival the success it has become.

All of the old favourites continue to feature with pig racing, mouse racing, pavement art, dog show, Beat on the Street, children’s art & craft and more.

The ever popular sandcastle and sand sculpture competition takes place on Wednesday, August 15th at the Warren Beach.

Other highlights include a pub singing competition and the monster rag parade.

The committee is calling on all businesses and local clubs to get behind the rag parade and to take part in what is always a popular and fun event.

The proceeds from the festival go straight back into the local community to help fund various projects.

The very first Festival was run by Munitir Na Tire and the proceeds went to build the final stretch of road to the Warren Beach.

The Festival kicks off on Friday, August 10th with an art exhibition at the Doswell Gallery and mouse racing at O’Brien’s Bar.

The official opening of the Rosscarbery Family Festival by Steve Redmond with open air music takes place from 7.30pm in the Square on Sunday evening, August 12th.
