A MEMBER of a Cork Town Council has been arrested on suspicion of making a fraudulent expenses claim.

The man in his 50s was brought to Bandon Garda Station on Wednesday for questioning in relation to the allegation under section 4 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act.
He was released without charge later that day.
The allegations relate to his attendance of a conference in Galway in April where it is alleged he signed for attending two days but was allegedly spotted in his home town on the second day.
A file is now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
