THE Youth Sub Committee of Muintir Bhaire Community Council held a 13-week sponsored slim to raise money for the Muintir Bhaire Sea Scouts and the Muintir Bhaire Foroige Club.

Thirty brave individuals signed up to take part in the challenge which proved to be a huge success!

The 30 slimmers lost a total of 28 stone, 7lbs and 7 oz between them and raised a total of €3,480.

Jennie Barry from Reenmore, Ahakista won first prize for losing the most weight and Mary O’Donovan from Kilcrohane won second prize.

The organisers thanked all the slimmers who took part in the challenge and also everyone who sponsored them.

Special thanks also went to Fran Wiseman and Deirdre Connolly for facilitating the weigh-ins throughout the 13-week challenge and to the businesses who allowed them to use their venues for the public weigh-ins.

Fiona Keohane from Kick Start, Bernadette O’Riordan, Community Nurse, and Claire Haseldine, Community Physiotherapist were also thanked for their support.

The final thanks went to Carmel Somers from the Good Things Cafe in Durrus for kindly donating her time, providing cookery demonstrations and sponsoring the prizes.
