It’s back to competitive action for the crews of the GalleyFlash next weekend, as they take part in Ring Rowing Clubs annual regatta.

On Sunday evening May 6th the first regatta of the SWCYRA 2012 calendar is scheduled to start at 6pm.

The club’s first fundraiser of the year concluded on Friday April 27th when the final of the Table Quiz was hosted in Fishers Cross

Thanks again to everyone who helped to make this such a success; the contestants, the quiz masters, those who helped out collecting and correcting the answers, Pat Joe for the amplification and of course the proprietors and staff of the three venues, The Mountain House, The Pike Bar and Fishers Cross Bar. Also on Friday night Denis O’Donovan of Fishers Cross presented a cheque of over €1,300 to the club, proceeds from the New Years Day Charity Match and Auction, Thanks again to Denis and Marie and all those involved in organizing this event.

The club also held a Church Gate collection recently, thanks to everyone who contributed to this.

Kilmacsimon Rowing hosted a Head of the River on Saturday April 21st. The Galley was represented by John & Micheal Harrington, Danny Hayes and Barry Hooper and they came home is a very creditable third place.

With the GalleyFlash Two Oar Challenge just over two weeks away and the clubs regatta only a month away the members and committee have a busy schedule ahead of them. Further fundraising is planned during the season with a “Scrap Saturday” planned for September where the club will offer the chance to the community to clean up their farms, yards etc and dispose of scrap metal for free and in doing so help the club raise some much needed funds.
