It was back to action for the rowers of the GalleyFlash last Sunday evening at the first Regatta of the new season in Ring.

A fine showing by the Galley rowers signals what will hopefully another successful season for the club.

Among the rowers on the day were four newcomers making their racing debut on the water. Galley crews were:

Under 12s: Sinéad O’Connor, Ian O’Keeffe, Daniel O’Brien, Ellen Jennings

Under 14s : Alison Taylor, Gary Lombard, Aoife O’Keeffe, Ruby Sullivan

Under 16s : Claire McCarthy, Eimear O’Keefe, Zoe Taylor, Roisín O’Brien

Under 18s : Ciara Rahilly, Eimear O’Keeffe, Catherine McCarthy, Danielle Hayes

Men : Míchéal Harrington, John Harrington, Dave McCarthy, Barry Hooper

Coxes: Míchéal Harrington and Julie Harrington

Meanwhile preparations are well under way for the inaugural GalleyFlash Two Oar Challenge.

With over 45 teams entered, May 20th is defiantly a date to be entered on your calendar.

When the best rowers in the country will compete at Kilkern for the honour of being crowned Two Oar Champions.

Coxes briefing will take place at 11am with the first heat due to start at 11.30.
