The West Cork group with "Al" in Guadalajara.

A DELEGATION from the Corona Fastnet Short Film Festival (CFSFF) dropped in with festival award “Al” to the Guadalajara International Film Festival in Mexico this week to present the award to the 2011 Best Film winner Alonso Ruizpalacios.

In 2009 the CFSFF introduced a Mexican strand to their festival programme and then in 2011 a Mexican film won Best Film and was awarded €2,000 and the beautiful Pat Connor sculpture now christened “Al” (www.patconnor.ie).

The West Cork group are also exploring new opportunities and the possibility of future film projects in Ireland while in Mexico.

You can follow Al’s journey on Facebook HERE.

Both festivals are sponsored by Corona and Michael Barry of Barry & Fitzwilliam who imports Corona into Ireland, has helped sponsor the trip.

Generous support has also been received from His Excellency Carlos Garcia deAlba, (Mexican Ambassador to Ireland), Culture Ireland, Failte Ireland and Cork County Council, helping nurture a growing, quality international event which runs in Schull, annually over the last weekend in May.

This year the CFSFF runs from Thursday 24th to Sunday 27th.
