CLONAKILTY Kindergarten has been hosting two volunteer students as part of the European Voluntary Programme (EVS) for the last seven years.

EVS is a programme which offers young people between the ages of 18 and 30 an opportunity to volunteer in a non-profit community, social or environmental project in another European country or other places around the globe for between two months and a year.

The volunteers receive ongoing support and training from their host organisation and Léargas, the National Agency, throughout their EVS project as well as funding which covers flights, pocket money, board and lodging, insurance, language support or classes.

This year the Clonakilty Kindergarten EVS students and coordinators will organise an event for West Cork-based volunteers as well as young local people considering taking part in an EVS scheme in another country.

This EVS international event is planned for Saturday, June 16th at the Kindergarten (Lady’s Cross, Clonakilty) and will involve inviting EVS volunteers from around West Cork to Clonakilty to present their projects to other potential EVS participants. A barbeque/social evening will follow for everyone involved.

Young people interested in taking part in an EVS scheme are welcome to attend.
