The cut-out is touring the USA.

THE real Big Fella may have been from Clon, but a cardboard cut-out of national hero Michael Collins from Dunmanway is proving to be an internet sensation in its own right.

The cut-out found in a hayshed in Dunmanway has been adopted by Dunmanway lad John Grace and a group of friends who have brought the Big Fella on tour with them to the United States where they are working as life guards on J1 visas.

In Washington DC.

According to John the group who style themselves “the Flying Column”, have no political affiliations, and simply hope to get to meet Liam Neeson who played Collins in the Neill Jordan Movie with the cut out for a photo opportunity.

In the mean time they have set up a dedicated Facebook page, Michael Collins Adventures and Twitter account @micksadventures where you can keep up to date with the Big Fella’s tour stateside.

The Facebook page already has more than 1,000 likes and the cut-out has already been photographed in a number of famous locations including New York’s Times Square, The White House in Washington DC, a baseball game in Boston and Atlantic City, New Jersey.
