THE long-awaited extension to Coppeen National School will be officially opened today (Monday, October 17th) by Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney.

The 78-pupil school has served the local community since the 19th century and has been awaiting the completion of the extension since plans were first put in place in 2007.

The €250,000 new extension includes two new classrooms and an assembly area with the original classrooms being refurbished for use as a staff room and learning support room.
