A PARISH priest described yesterday how a West Cork community was “in shock” and had been left in “total disbelief” following the violent events of last weekend that had left two people dead.

Father Myles McSweeney was speaking to a packed St Patrick’s Church in Bandon as Jonathan “Dukey” Duke (27) was laid to rest.

Mr Duke’s body was recovered from the Bandon River last Sunday night and two people have since been charged with his murder.

On Tuesday, the body of John Forrester (42) was also recovered from the Bandon River.

Among the huge crowd in attendance at the funeral were Mr Duke’s nine-year-old daughter Angel, his mother Michelle and sisters Nicole, Cindy and Shannon.
