CLONAKILTY is set to explode into bloom this coming June when the town hosts the prestigious National Flower Festival.

Plans for the event which takes place between June 22nd  -24th are progressing well with the three churches in town set to be decorated by over 200 floral artists from all over Ireland.

The work will be take place on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd with the official opening ceremony in the Church of the Immaculate Conception at 7.30pm on the Friday.

All Churches will be open to the public on Saturday 10.30am – 6pm and Sunday 12.30pm – 6pm.

Entrance fee of  €10 includes all churches and a concert will also be held in the Church of the Immaculate Conception on Saturday 23rd at 8.30pm, also €10.

The closing ceremony will be held in Kilgarriffe Church of Ireland on Sunday at 5.30pm. There will be a sales area in the Parochial Hall, where plants, bric a brac, home produce, candles and floral accessories will be on sale.

Many flower clubs from all over the country are expected to attend what promises to be a busy weekend in Clonakilty.
