FRIDAY is Market day in Clonakilty and I love nothing more when the weather is dry to go to the market before I start work.
Its my weekly ritual and my weekend just isn’t the same if I hadn’t a chance to go to get some fresh produce from the area.
Americans love to eat, So do I, but what is it what makes their food so tasty ?
First I need to clarify that I don’t like to use the word American, for me there is not such a thing than a American, other than the native Americans.
All the people I met on my week in the US, are people with European, South American, or Australian background and family history. The Taxi driver was Pakistani, the bartender Swiss, the barmaid Irish, etc, etc.
I recently had the pleasure to be in the US for work, and where there is business, there is time for pleasure, at least a bit.
In Atlanta my friend Marco recommended a special place where they have the best Ribs and Chicken on the East Coast: Fat Matt’s Rib Shack.
My friend Tina Pisco recently posted on facebook a advice that decluttering the house and cleaning it might be help against writers block. Maybe it’s that I painted and reorganized my kitchen last week or is it the buzz in town with the west cork really, the spirit of 400 years Clon that I came out of it ?
Something is in the air, I struggled since a while to write a review about my favourite lunchtime location, and people who know me well, also after work location, the Scannels in Clonakilty. more »
As a little thank you I’m sharing my favourite Christmas recipe, cfor all those who want to enjoy a little Austrian Christmas atmosphere at home, here is my family recipe for Vanilla Crescents:
The view over the beach is stunning, big wide windows afford great views as you to sit in the lobby, enjoying a drink before waiting to be seated for dinner at one of the stylishly decorated tables.
I hope you enjoyed being on the road with me for this little while. more »
One of the last few stops in this series brings me this time to the free and Hanseatic city of Hamburg, which is the second largest city in Germany.
Since I am native Austrian travelling to Germany is like visiting a cousin.
The language is a bit different, but with some discipline they understand me well and I have no trouble finding my way around in the city.
On many of my travels I end up passing through Dublin Airport, and often with flight times that are inconvenient.
So I prefer to drive up to Dublin the afternoon/evening to catch a flight in the early morning.
I recently took part in one of Richy’s adult cooking classes in Clonakilty to polish up my skills and learn something new.
On the menu were tasty Tapas!
I love these little Spanish dishes, there are a great variety of flavours and options so whatever dishes you serve your guests you can be assured there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
There were five people in our cooking class so it was pretty busy to get everyone all prepared.
On the menu were Scallops in Ham, Asparagus, Spanish Omelette, Prawns, Melon and Ham, Cheese Balls and Chicken and Potatoes in Tomato Sauce.
