Recently held by the Southwest Coastal Yawl Rowing Association at the Celtic Ross Hotel was a coxwain’s beginners course. At the first ever coxwain’s course from the Southwest, on hand with their guidance and expertise were Danny Hayes from the Galley Flash Rowing Club; Tadg Collins from Kilmacsimon Rowing Club; Anthony Glanton from Myross Rowing Club and Margaurite Deasy from Ring Rowing Club.

FOR 25 year old Cal McCarthy and Carbery Plastics employee, 21 year old Conor McCarthy, it was an excellent weekend’s rallying on their home event the Quality Hotel West Cork Rally. Cal and Eamonn Dullea in their newly built class 11 Honda Civic finished a fine 8th overall and first in class, an ideal start to their Irish Tarmac Championship Modified campaign, whilst Conor secured second place in the

SAVE a date in your diary this May Bank Holiday for the Bandon half marathon, 10K and six mile walk. Now in its fourth year, the event continues to attract large numbers for the three individual events. It is again organised by two of Bandon’s premier sporting clubs, Bandon Rugby and Bandon Athletic Club for which it is a joint fundraiser.
The Mealagh Valley 10-Mile Race was held on 9th February near Bantry in West Cork and organised by Bantry AC. There were 77 finishers. This is a challenging 10-mile race and Tom Laffan, Bandon AC, ran well to finish 3rd in 1:03:05. Eddie Wilmot was 24th in 1:14:39 and Steve Young 51st in 1:27:19. The Cork Bhaa Jansen 4-Mile Road Race was also held on 9th February on the Little
