This year, for the first time since 1995 Clonakilty will host a Stage-end Finish of the 2014 An Post Rás 8 Day International Cycle Race. The Rás is included on the prestigious Union Cycliste Internationale Calendar of Cycle races. Following on from Beara’s first small team of 6 swimmers in 2013 this year the area entered a team of 18. Children qualified for their places at the trials held in early February. For the majority of the children taking part this was their first swimming competition and, for some, their first time in a 25m pool.

A three ball scramble was held at Berehaven Park Golf Club over the St Patrick’s weekend. Fantastic weather ensured a great turnout with 35 teams entered. THE new entry format for the Kerry Group Ras Mumhan has proved very successful. With only nine weeks to go to the event, 30 teams have already been entered. There is now only space for three more teams, so the race is on for the remaining available places. The final list is expected shortly.
