Style afternoon for Bantry Hospice Project

Sola Boutique recently hosted a very stylish afternoon tea and fashion show event. The event took place in the beautiful setting of the Seaveiw House Hotel. There was a great buzz in the lead up to the event with the tickets selling out two weeks before the show. Clonakilty Camera Club notes

Judging of the environmental portrait competition took place at the clubs meeting of the 16th April. Members were congratulated on the overall high standard and excellent quality of the entries. Kathleen Hayes was the winner in the Grade 1 category with Jessie Duignan taking the honours in Grade 2. Diarmuid Lawlor was the winner in Grade 3.

KBC ‘Bright Ideas’ adds up to better communities in West Cork

€20,000 for winning Cork community entries to KBC Bright Ideas Competition   KBC are looking for ideas which are innovative, creative and that will make a difference in a community in Cork. A fund of €80,000 split between Cork, Limerick, Galway and Dublin, has been made available by KBC for the winning ideas, which will transform and make their communities a better place to live in.

Bantry at the Community Games

Bantry Community Games have been very active recently taking part in two Community Games  County competitions in Art & Swimming.   The swimming finals, held at Leisureworld, Bishopstown on the  5th April 2014, were a great success. 27 competitors represented Bantry in individual events and brought home 11 medals. 2 Relay teams (U13 Girls - Aisling Stock,  Aysia Murphy, Saoirse Power,  Rebecca Harrington) & (U13 Boys - Cillian O’Brien, Cathal Dullea, Eoin Stock, Rory Lennon, Sub: Joseph Cato) took part with the girls claiming Silver

Lorraine raises €1,540 with “Trouble in the Workshop”

YOUNG author Lorraine Kelleher raised a total of €1,540 through the sale of her children’s Christmas book “Trouble in the Workshop”. Lorraine said, “I have now sold all copies and it was a huge success, raising €1,540 which I then split between Marymount Hospice and The Irish Cancer Society”. Lorraine is pictured presenting at cheque of €770 to the CEO of Marymount Hospice, Kevin O’Dwyer.

Kilcrohane walk raises funds for Cancer Patient Care

Team Operation Transformation Kilcrohane held a Fun Fun 5K walk in Kilcrohane recently. The weather was glorious and over 180 walkers registered for the walk. Donations were collected and €1,470 was raised on the day for Cancer Patient Care at the Oncology Department of CUH. The walk was organised by Noreen Daly who was also the instigator of Operation Transformation Kilcrohane which is still going strong.

Dunmanway knitters knit a tasty looking confection

Dunmanway Library’s Knit and Natter group have created a pretty and unique hand-crafted celebration of Spring.   The group which is led by library staff member Aine O’Brien have knitted, crocheted, and created from lace a Springtime Tea Party. This entirely calorie free feast of cakes and confections has to be seen to be believed.
