IN a shock move well-known Bandon photographer Denis Boyle has declared his intention to contest upcoming local elections in May as an independent in the Bandon-Kinsale area. Campaigning under the slogan “A Voice for the Voiceless” the 39-year-old DIT graduate said that “for too long, ordinary people have been ignored”.
THE Fort Madison Voices Choir has been singing around the United States for over 45 years receiving numerous accolades and exemplary ratings at contests. This is their first time performing overseas and they are pleased to present to you a concert that they have been preparing for over a year.
THE HSE has allocated €250,000 towards the upgrade of existing beds in Bandon Community Hospital. The announcement follows the visit of a delegation of the Friends of Bandon Community Hospital to meet with Health Minister James Reilly and officials from the HSE in Dublin in November last year.
Irish Water and Cork County Council wishes to notify consumers, following advice from the Health Service Executive, that Irish Water and the Council are now in a position to remove the boil water notice with immediate effect for the list of water supplies identified hereunder. Everyone can now resume normal use of the water supply for drinking, food preparation and brushing teeth.
IRISH Water and Cork County Council habve issued a Boilw Water Notice covering large areas of West Cork following the recent bad weather. In a statement they said, “It has come to the attention of Irish Water and Cork County Council that the public water supply served by the list of attached schemes may be contaminated.
SOME of the most severe winds ever recorded battered West Cork downing countless trees and power lines and causing widespread damage across the region. TOWNS and villages across West Cork were battered by a perfect storm last night as high tides, gale force winds and heavy rain combined to wreak havoc across the region. From Beara to Kinsale and up to Macroom power lines were downed, trees fell and flooding inundated several areas as the winter weather.
THE continuing delay in any progress on the two schemes which were earmarked for Bandon, the flood relief and drainage schemes, has led to local Sinn Fein candidate Rachel McCarthy to call for a definitive time frame for the delivery of the projects.
