Carbery Rangers 1-11 Argideen Rangers 2-10

IT was the battle of the Rangers on Friday night last when the junior footballers met Argideen Rangers in the Championship.

Having dispatched of Clonakilty in round one, this was always going to be a tougher assignment and it wasn’t made easier with the loss of John McCarthy through injury.

Ross got off to the worst possible start when they conceded a goal inside 20 seconds. Johnny Murphy had an opening point for Ross to settle them after four minutes.

The Timoleague lads scored a second goal mid way through the half to leave them ahead 2-1 to 0-4.

Kieran Fitzpatrick scored from long range and two pointed frees from Johnny Murphy who was in great form for the hour saw Ross go in at the break down by two points.

Ross started the second half in a scoring spree when they had 1-1 in the opening minutes the goal coming from Chris O’Donovan.

Argideen Rangers reply was to kick 4 points to put them in front again.

Two points each were exchanged before Kieran Fitzpatrick had a final point for Ross but it wasn’t to be enough as Ross went down to a final of Carbery Rangers 1-11 Argideen Rangers 2-10.

Under 14 Hurling

Carbery Rangers and Clonakilty met in U14 Championship final on Sunday last. When these sides played each other in the league Clon won well so Ross had it all to do to claim the Cup.

It was Ross who started the better and goals from Sean Gordon and Darren Hayes which saw Ross lead at half time by 2-03 to 1-03.

Ross gave a great account of themselves and played some lovely hurling in the second period, but three goals by Clon saw them win out on a final score of Carbery Rangers 2-06 Clonakilty 4-05.

The under 10 Footballers played Dohenys during the week in Dunmanway and both teams served up a very entertaining game with both sides getting some great scores.
