Ivor Callely

FORMER Fianna Fáil TD and senator Ivor Callely has been arrested by gardaí from the fraud squad in connection with allegations relating to alleged false invoices for mobile phone expenses.

He was arrested in Dublin and taken to Irishtown Garda Station where he is being held under the Theft and Fraud Offences Act.

His Dublin home and office were also searched and later his property in Kilcrohane was also searched.

The 53-year-old famously claimed travel expenses of more than €80,000 from his property in Kilcrohane, West Cork over a three year period while his political base was in Clontarf in Dublin.
