CAHERAGH Community Hall will host old-time dancing and a céilí on Friday, September 7th next from 9.30pm with music by Neily O’Connor.
The event is in aid of the Captain Francis O’Neill Memorial Fund.
O’Neill was a native of Tralibane, Bantry, who served as a police officer in the US, and following his retirement in 1905 became a famed collector of Irish traditional music.
O’Neill, who was exposed to the music of Cork musicians such as Peter Hagarty, Cormac Murphy and Timothy Dowling from an early age, published numerous collections, including The Music of Ireland in 1903.
