Flooding on Pearse Street, Bandon.

DETAILS of Bandon’s proposed flood relief measures aimed at preventing a recurrence of the devastating floods of 2009 were unveiled by Minister of State Brian Hayes yesterday.

The proposed €10 million works are expected to begin next year and include a new foot bridge to replace the existing 100-year-old structure, pumping stations, river dredging, new floods walls and embankments.

The main Bandon Bridge will also be underpinned as part of the works which are expected to take two years to complete.

The proposals can be viewed by the public at Bandon Town Hall on Wednesday, June 20th next from 10am to 5pm.
