A simple unveiling by Mayor of Clonakilty Cionnaith Ó Súilleabháin of a plaque on the entrance wall to the former Convent of Mercy and Sacred Heart Secondary School on 18th June will at last see artist Alfred Elmore remembered publicly in his own town. THE dedication of a memorial plaque to the 50th anniversary of the crash of Flying Tiger Flight 923 off the coast of West Cork will take place at Galley Head lighthouse, this Sunday, September 23rd at 3.30pm. Twenty-eight people died when Flying Tiger Lines Flight 923 crashed into the sea en route from New Jersey to Frankfurt during a heavy storm.
