The focus of this year’s campaign is serious injuries as a result of collisions as statistics showed that 19,681 people were seriously injured in a collision in the period 1996 to 2011.

West Cork students awarded top road safety award

TWO students from Coláiste Pobail Bheanntraí in Bantry have been awarded the Supreme Award for Road Safety at this year’s Road Safety Authority (RSA) Leading Lights in Road Safety Awards which were held at Farmleigh in Dublin recently. Niamh Kearney (14) and Tadgh O’Shea (15) received the award for their traffic calming initiative to reduce the speed of motorists as they enter and exit Kealkill Village.
