ON Thursday December 11th 2014 Youthreach Macroom, Centre for Education under the auspices of Cork Education and Training Board hosted an Open Day to celebrate their achievements for the year to date. The event was a great success and was well supported by parents, local employers and local School principals. Cork County Mayor, Councillor Alan Coleman officially opened the event and Ger Canning Adult Education Officer with Cork ETB also attended.
THE finale of the upcoming Ardfield Festival which runs from August 3rd will see one of West Cork’s iconic landmarks, the Galley Head Lighthouse, open to the public as part of a special gala day on Sunday, August 10th. The “Gala Day at the Galley” will feature music, stalls, family fun and the unique opportunity to climb the lighthouse free of charge.

THIS year is the 10th anniversary of the official opening of the Kinsale RNLI lifeboat station. The volunteer crew of Kinsale’s RNLI lifeboat, Miss Sally Anne Baggy, invite members of the public to celebrate the occasion at an open day on Sunday 4 August. Visitors can meet the crew and see the lifeboat that was involved in the recent rescue of the tall ship Astrid.

Cork took place in glorious sunshine on Tuesday July 16th. There was a record attendance estimated at over 3,500 of commercial dairy farmers and pedigree breeders from across the country including Northern Ireland and Britain.

SAINT Mary’s Secondary School held a very successful open evening recently. With fourth year students acting as couriers, prospective students and their parents were invited to tour the school, meet the teachers and experience a wide range of classroom activities.
NATIONAL Heritage Week takes place from 18th – 26th August inclusive, and as part of that, the Clonakilty Museum, will be open from this Wednesday 22nd – Friday 24th from 11.30am 4.00pm daily, with an entry fee of just €1 adults, children free. And on Saturday 25th, it will open free of charge to all with longer opening hours from 11am – 6pm.
SATURDAY, July 7th is Ireland’s first national tennis day and as part of the nationwide celebrations the Ardfield Rathbarry Tennis Club is hosting a fun-filled and action-packed open day. On the day the club’s courts and facilities will be freely available from 12pm until 6pm to all members, guests, juniors and adults and invite anyone with an interest in tennis to come along and join in the fun.
MUINEFLIUCH N.S. Community Day was held on Sunday, June 24th last and a large crowd was present to see the unveiling of a sensory garden dedicated to the memory of Mrs Sile Kelly who was Principal of the school for 15 years. Pupils performed instrumental pieces and choral verse in the garden for the occasion.
