Great start to Junior A Football! Kilmeen junior footballers were promoted to Junior A football last July, having recorded a comprehensive win over Grange. The first outing in the new grade was against Ilen Rovers, in Drimoleague on Sunday evening.

Kilbree U14’s qualify for West Cork Final On Thursday evening the U14 hurlers played Bantry, in the West Cork semi-final, in Dunmanway. Kilbree started very strongly with some great points by Jack Murphy. A goal from Cian Murphy in the first quarter set Kilbree up nicely. The Kilbree lads continued to dominate with most of the possession and scoring chances. The half-time score was Kilbree 2-6 to Bantry’s 0-2.

U10 hurlers host fun blitz! Kilbree’s U10 hurlers played a blitz on home soil on Saturday morning. They played St Oliver Plunketts, St James and St Patricks in glorious sunshine. They played tremendously well but most important of all, they had great fun. Skibbereen Rowing Club have put Skibbereen on the map nationally and internationally with the club’s fantastic achievements and now they need your help. The club would really appreciate your support by nominating them in the Irish Times Best Sports Club in Ireland competition where the winning club will receive a prize of €5,000.

Thomas Tyner named on Cork U15 squad! Thomas Tyner has recently been named on the Cork U15 hurling development squad. Thomas won an All-Ireland medal with this squad at U14 level in the 2015 season. Thomas captained his own club team to a championship and league double. We are delighted for Thomas and his family and wish him the best of luck for the season!

It was a busy weekend for the club, on the 6th of May our pre-silage party took place in Tots Pub Ballygurteen a great night was had with our band the west cork ramblers playing the music till the early hours of Saturday morning thanks to everyone who came and sponsored prizes.

Mixed Fortunes for Junior Hurlers! The junior hurlers played St Colums in Rossmore on Friday evening, in a league encounter. Kilbree were victorious, the final score was Kilbree 0-16 to St Colum’s 0-09. In a reversal of fortunes, the juniors travelled to Ballinascarthy on Sunday where they lost. The final score was Ballinascarthy 0-14 to Kilbree’s 0-11.

Junior hurlers record narrow victory over Newcestown! On Friday evening, the junior hurlers took on Newcestown in a league fixture in Rossmore. This was a very exciting, well matched affair. The Kilbree lads were lucky to record a one point victory.

Easter Camp 2016 is a huge success! Over seventy children took part in the club’s annual Easter Camp in Rossmore. They enjoyed three days of hurling and football fun, under the expert guidance of coaches James Desmond, Paudie Crowley and Shane O’Donovan. Munster Football Final The Munster junior football final against Sneem/Derrynane (Kerry) has been scheduled for Sunday 13th March. The fixture will take place in Knockaderry (Co Limerick) at 1.45pm. On Sunday the 13th of March Bantry Macra will be having a charity fun run starting at the Westlodge Hotel sign in is from 12:30 with race starting at 1pm. Sneem Derrynane (Kerry) recorded a comprehensive victory over Ballinacourty (Waterford) in the second semi-final of the Munster junior b football championship, last Sunday in Knockaderry(Limerick). Junior Footballers Qualify for Munster Final! Kilmeen’s Junior B footballers qualified for a historic Munster football final on Sunday. It has been a long season for this cohort of players. They won the county title last July. They won the Munster quarter-final in mid-November and had to wait till mid-February for the next round. The Munster semi-final was played against Fedamore (Limerick) in Knockaderry.

21st December 2015 U13 Carbery Stars graduate! The graduation of the U13 Carbery hurling/football panels took place in the West Cork Hotel on Sunday evening.  The U13 Academy has been organised by James McCarthy, who was ably assisted by a number of coaches on a weekly basis.

Dinner Dance The club’s dinner dance will take place on Friday 29th January in Fernhill House Hotel.  The occasion will celebrate the county success of the junior footballers, the success of the U21 footballers and the U14 hurlers.  Tickets are available from Ray Collins, Gavin Twohig, Micheal McCarthy, Noel O’Donovan, Ger Collins and Jason Collins.  A great night is assured.

Ray Collins wins Carbery All-Star Ray Collins won a football Carbery All-Star award on Friday night in the West Lodge Hotel in Bantry. Ray captained the Kilmeen juniors to win the County Final V Grange in July.  Ray is an outstanding captain and leads by example both on and off the field of play.  This is a well-deserved accolade for a truly superb footballer and captain.

Kilmeen Qualify for Munster Semi-Final   Kilmeen played the Junior B football Munster Quarter final against Clare Champions, Killimer on Sunday afternoon 22nd November in Knockaderry, Co. Limerick. Kilmeen won the toss and played with the breeze during the first half on an immaculate grass surface.

GalleyFlash Rowing Club Notes

LAST Saturday evening, November 8th, GalleyFlash Rowing Club were delighted to be joint recipients with COPE Clonakilty of a presentation from Rathbarry and District Vintage Club. Both groups received cheques for €2,500 from the Vintage Club, proceeds from their recent Vintage Run and Family Fun Day.
