New marine safety plan “will save lives”

TRANSPORT Minister Leo Varadkar has announced details of a new maritime safety plan establishing an Irish Maritime Administration which will combine, direct and coordinate the Irish Coastguard and the Marine Survey Office.   The marine safety plan will be aimed at the marine leisure sector as well as the fishing industry.

Funding boost for West Cork harbours

HARBOURS across West Cork are set to benefit from more than €2,5 million in funding announced by the Department of Transport.   The €2,632,000 in funding which is being made available for the maintenance and upgrade of a number of Cork harbours, as part of the agreement which sees the ownership of such transferred to local authorities.

Continued low VAT rate for tourism welcomed
